Metallurgy department has constantly focused in developing the academic excellence of the students. The curriculum of this branch is designed keeping the most recent trends in technology to keep pace with the national standards. The Department of Metallurgy Engineering plays a unique and distinctive role in an institute where the ethics of technology and its applications prevail. As we know, engineering, by its very nature, humanistic and socially derived enterprise. Metallurgy Engineering department has 60 intake capacities.

Metallurgy Engineering department of Government Polytechnic, Sonepur strives to impart good technical education and to produce skilled man power for the betterment of society.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEO)

  • To acquire basic knowledge in Metallurgy Engineering with hands on practice in all the areas of Metallurgy Engineering as well as Workshop Practice.
  • To accomplish with advanced training in focused areas to solve complex real-world problems in Metallurgy Engineering.

Programme Outcomes (PO)

  • Apply knowledge of basic mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and engineering specialization to solve the engineering problems.
  • Identify and analyse well-defined engineering problems using codified standard methods.
  • Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems components or processes to meet specified needs.

Programme Specific Outcomes (PSO)

  • PSO1:

    Academic Competence: (i) Understand various concepts of Metallurgy Engineering appropriately. (ii) Recommend practical solutions to solve the problems in different domains.

  • PSO2:

    Personal and Professional Competence: (i) Apply the fundamental knowledge to acquire new skills. (ii) Develop strong problem solving, analysing and decision-making abilities. Identify the information and apply their disciplinary knowledge and professional skills to design components, system or processes to meet required specification
